Introduction.
Viewing screens sizes and formats have never been so varied.
It was all so simple when every computer came with 14 inch CRT which rendered colour so badly that styling was almost pointless. Now we have LCD & widescreen, laptop & mobile, high def and portable, and everything in-between, not forgetting our not so old friend the 14 inch CRT.
The point is, your webpages need capability to look good on all these devices in all these formats.
Web browsers.
A web browser is a program that runs on your computer for the purpose of displaying web pages. In terms of web browser evolution, we are at the stage where common standards and being adopted. However, there is still a surprising difference in the way your web pages will appear in the different brands of browser.
Up until recently, web pages needed to constructed as a table to ensure reliable cross-browser behaviour, but the increasing acceptance of web standards are now enabling more versatility and complexity with web design.
